(24 Nov 1978) Former Liberal Party leader Jeremy Thorpe and his wife leave Minehead court to take a walk along the sea-front. They are questioned about how they will spend the weekend. During the court proceedings, magistrates were told that Thorpe wrote to multi-millionaire and party backer, Mr Jack Hayward in April 1974 asking for money. It is part of the prosecution's case that some of the money was to pay a gunman to murder Thorpe's alleged homosexual lover, male model Norman Scott.
