DecAthlete (Saturn) Playthrough

Описание к видео DecAthlete (Saturn) Playthrough

A playthrough of Sega's 1996 sports game for the Sega Saturn, DecAthlete.

This video shows two runs through the game. The first (beginning at 5:07) is of the arcade mode played as Rick Blade. The second (30:30) is of the decathlon mode played as Ellen Reggiani.

DecAthlete is, as the title implies, a Track & Field-style button masher that features all the events seen in a traditional decathlon.

The Saturn port, released a few months behind its arcade counterpart, is a near 1:1 conversion that made an excellent show of the console's capabilities. The game runs at a razor sharp 704x480 and updates at sixty fields per second, making it one of the best-looking, smoothest moving console games of 1996.

The controls are easy to grasp, the events don't overstay their welcome, the character personalities are silly and fun, and the graphics and music are fantastic. It's everything you could ask for from this style of game, and it's all impressively well realized for a fully 3D game from 1996. DecAthlete is one of the best games ever produced in its genre, and I still go back to it regularly.
