So I'm caving in and installing a protein skimmer on the nano reef. I added way too much fish for such a small tank and natural nutrient export just wasn't doing the job. As I say in the video, my parameters are all in check but all the feeding might have caused an ammonia or nitrate spike (two parameters I'm not checking for). The skimmer looks like it can do the job, so hopefully my next update will show some improvement.
