The poet, lyricist, and singer, Rajanikanta Sen (1865-1910), was greatly influenced by folk tunes and pastoral themes. Born in Pabna (Bangladesh), in 1865, Sen pursued a career in law. His poetic oeuvre was silenced by a fatal illness, only at the age of 45. Devotion and patriotic fervour are the leitmotif in his score, although he composed many love songs and satirical verses as well.
