We're improving our rail network, with funding through the Rail Network Investment Programme. We’re addressing historic underinvestment and spending on renewals and maintenance to make the network more resilient and reliable.

Check out the highlights of a recent block of line in Christchurch. We closed the line to trains for three days while we carried out improvements at seven work sites, with a team of more than 90 people working around the clock.

Our work programme included: installing two track turnouts at Heathcote, installing 3500 new concrete sleepers and carrying out four level crossing upgrades.
