First things first, you will need to learn how to download datapacks for Minecraft 1.20.4. In the description above, you can find a link to download datapacks. This is our list of some of the best Minecraft 1.20.4 datapacks, but this guide will work for any data pack you want to install as long as it is 1.20.4 compatible.

The download process for each 1.20.4 datapack is different, but once you have them downloaded, they can all be installed the same way.

Once downloaded, we can move on to how to add data packs to Minecraft 1.20.4. This can be done by opening Minecraft and selecting singleplayer. Then, find the world you want to add data packs to and select it. Click the “Edit” button and then click “Open World Folder”.

In the world folder, you will have a “datapacks” folder. Open that and add your data packs here. Generally, the datapacks will be .zip files. You may need to unzip some data packs such as the Vanilla Tweaks 1.20.4 datapacks due to the fact that when you download Vanilla Tweaks, you are downloading multiple datapacks at one time. The file you download will have “UNZIP ME” in the title.

After unzipping Vanilla Tweaks, you will have additional .zip folders for each data pack you selected when downloading them. This is what you want to add to the data packs folder.

With your 1.20.4 data packs added to the “datapacks” folder within the folder, you can now play that world. The datapacks might not work though. This is due to the fact that the data packs will need to be reloaded. This can be done with the /reload command. That will reload Minecraft and activate your data packs.

If you can’t do the /reload command, you will need to open the world to LAN and enable cheats. This will let you use this command and activate your 1.20.4 data packs.

You can also use data packs when creating a world. This is done by clicking the “More” tab in the world creation screen. There, you will see a “Data Packs” button. Open that, and there is a “Open Pack Folder” button. Click this and a data packs folder will open. Add any data packs you want to this folder. Then, back in-game, hover over them and move them from the “Available” tab to the “Selected” tab. Click “Done” and generate your world. This will ensure that your 1.20.4 data packs are installed from the start of the world. This is great for world generation datapacks!
