Kinding Sindaw, a dance group representing Jackson Heights, will be performing Indigenous Southern Philippine dances at the Queensboro Dance Festival in 2024. The group is led by Artistic Director Potri Ranka Manis, who is both a registered nurse and a Maranao tradition-bearer from Mindanao, Philippines.

Kinding Sindaw's performances aim to preserve and promote indigenous traditions through dance, music, and chants. Their goal is to inspire communities to take action in defending these cultural practices and the lands they originate from.

The Queensboro Dance Festival, which showcases various Queens-based dance companies, will feature Kinding Sindaw among its 25 participating groups for the summer season. While specific dates for Kinding Sindaw's performance are not provided, the festival includes events at different venues. One notable performance is scheduled for Saturday, August 24, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the GLOW Cultural Center in Queens. Additionally, there will be a culminating weekend from September 30 to October 2 at Queens Theatre, featuring different lineups of Queens dance companies each evening.

Kinding Sindaw is also preparing for the Queensboro Dance Festival through their Spring 2024 dance classes, which will help them get ready for this and other events such as the Dance Parade and Philippines Independence Day celebrations.
