Donald Sutherland (born 1935) is a Canadian actor, famous for his acting career spanning more than 6 decades and diverse roles in many film genres.

Born in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, Sutherland initially studied medicine but later switched to acting. He began his acting career on Canadian stage and television in the 1950s.

Sutherland moved to Hollywood in the early 1960s and quickly achieved success. He is known for his roles in films such as "MASH" (1970), "Klute" (1971), "Animal House" (1978), "Ordinary People" (1980), "Backdraft" (1991) and "JFK" (1991).

Sutherland also starred in many popular television series, including "The Dirty Dozen" (1967), "The Sand Pebbles" (1969) and "Six Degrees of Separation" (1990). He was nominated for two Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actor for "Klute" (1971) and "Ordinary People" (1980).

Sutherland remains active in acting to this day. He played a villain in the film series "The Hunger Games" (2012-2015) and recently appeared in the films "The Shape of Water" (2017) and "Ad Astra" (2019).
