Cryotherapy is a treatment method that uses extreme cold, often in the form of liquid nitrogen, to freeze and destroy abnormal tissue. When applied to a mucocele—a fluid-filled cyst commonly found in the mouth, usually on the inner lip—cryotherapy works by freezing the cyst, causing the tissue to die and the mucocele to shrink and eventually disappear.
