Popchock’s Player of the Night for Week 2 of the Ice Castle 3-vs.-3 Elite Hockey League, presented by Solyco Advisors, is Team Raising Cane’s forward L.J. Mooney!

Mooney, a cousin of team captain Logan Cooley, and a reigning U-18 World Junior Champion with Team USA, will be eligible for next year’s NHL Entry Draft. With more great performances like the one he turned in on Tuesday, his stock should only continue to rise.

In Game 2, he recorded his second hat trick in as many outings, which led to a dominant 9-2 win over Team Title Wave Sports, and he set up Justin Gibson’s own hat trick goal early in the second period.

In the nightcap, against Team Gordo’s Tacos & Tequila, Mooney assisted on Cooley’s opener, and then, in a frantic final two minutes of regulation, made an alert play to beat goaltender Mason Murovich to a vacant net for the goal that clinched back-to-back group titles for Raising Cane’s.
