Sydney CPPC Seminar September 21st 2023

The g-2 experiment at Fermilab ultimately aims to measure the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon to a precision of 140 ppb to resolve whether the discrepancy between theory and experiment first observed over a decade ago at the experiment at BNL truly is a sign of new physics. The experiment released the first results from the first year of data taking a couple of years ago, achieving slightly better accuracy and agreeing with the result measured at BNL. This talk will focus on the most recent result, released a month ago based on the data taken in the 2nd and 3rd years of data taking, explaining the experimental method, with a focus on the improvements since the first analysis.
