This is only the 2nd level so far in the contest. It's a kuso entry where some things need a while to figure out. Jumping down from the lava edge to the platform underneath the first accordion block while powered up was kinda jank, which was proven on footage. I didn't plan to include that death in the video, though, but I didn't bother with changing things again and then I thought I should cover it. The 1st part is certainly harder and longer than anything else. I really liked that take on Reznor, even though they behave like Hammer Bros. when thrown into lava. Graveyard aesthetics were certainly... interesting. P-switch drums were achieved in a legal way, i.e. by changing a setting in UserDefines.asm in AddMusicK. All in all, nice gimmick and good setups. I enjoyed the chiptune port and Final of Puyo Puyo remix, too.

Note: I didn't notice this on my playthroughs, but L/R screen scrolling was disabled using an illegal (to the contest) method in this level. Sorry, ShadowBoxer.

In this series, I will be playing levels from SMW Central's Vanilla Level Design Contest 2024. All playthroughs of standard levels will stay blind, albeit their respective videos will be all edited. This means that I only play my levels for the first time while capturing footage. However, an exception will be made for kaizo entries. After I've played them blind first, I'll record their replays and only leave successful attempts.

Super Mario World belongs to Nintendo. I don't own the game itself nor do I monetize its contents. This video wasn't made for business anyway and its sole purpose is showoff and entertainment.
