Valorant Streamer Banned For 'Cheating' While Playing At Riot HQ

Valorant streamer JimmyJam has been banned for "cheating" for playing Swiftplay's games at Riot HQ.

When Valorant first came out, its Vanguard anti-cheat system received a lot of praise and backlash. First, it is very effective in preventing cheaters from hacking the game via software or hardware.

However, to be effective, it required unprecedented access to computers, and many were denied access in the early days of Valorant. But over time, most players accepted it as a necessary evil to avoid lobby hackers. But it's not perfect.

An example of this is when Valorant streamer JimmyJam visited Riot HQ with other streamers and was made to laugh while leaving with his account suspended.

JummyJam posted an innocuous tweet of him and another streamer playing a game of Swift Play during a visit to Riot HQ. However, the tweet was blocked just 10 minutes after it was published.

In a video uploaded to Twitter by streamer Ahad, he shows Jimmy Jam's screen displaying the message a cheater receives if they're caught: "You've been banned from playing Valorant."

A spooky screen appeared on the screens of all other players in the game, indicating that cheaters had been detected in the game and the game had been abandoned.

"Jimmy Jams just got [suspended]," Ahad said in his own video. Everyone in the back is laughing at the situation while showing everyone the other monitor.

Jimmy Jam also seemed to recognize the ridiculousness of the situation and retweeted the video. "Brother, I got kicked out of Valorant at Riot HQ, is that funny?" He then gave an update that the ban would be lifted in less than an hour.

The cause of the false ban is still unknown. Perhaps it was a rare case where a streamer was invited to try something new and Vanguard's customers didn't like it, or it was a false positive.
