With it’s smaller body design and shorter scale length, the Eastcoast MKOA definitely fits into the travel guitar bracket, and it’s very similar in dimensions and specs to the popular Taylor GS-Mini, but of course, the Eastcoast is a fraction of the price. With a 23 and a half inch scale length, so it’s not quite as small as some travel guitars and still maintains the feel and sound more similar to a full size acoustic. The slightly smaller dimensions of the guitar do however make it a great travel instrument, and because it also has thinner feeling neck profile, it’s an ideal choice for younger players and smaller hands.

The first thing you’ll probably notice is how good it looks, and that’s because the top, back and sides of the guitar are made from Koa, an exotic wood usually reserved for much more expensive models, and virtually unheard of at this price point. With it’s satin finish, the Koa grain looks absolutely gorgeous, and because it’s a laminate construction design, with body binding both front and back, the guitar is really tough for taking on your adventures.

The body shape is nice curvy, kinda mini folk design that fits comfortably on your lap and is easy to get your strumming arm over, and it produces a nice warm tone with much more resonance, bass and volume than a conventional travel guitar. The neck feels great to play with slim profile and smooth satin finish, it’s made from Okoume and finished to match the Koa, and this is fitted with a rosewood finger board with 20 frets and dot inlays.

Other features include a set of quality Grover tuners, pre-fitted strap buttons, and it’s also available in an electro model which features a Fishman Pre-Sys pickup and preamp system with tone controls and a built in tuner.

So whether you’re a beginner who needs a more compact guitar to learn on, or a more experienced player looking for an affordable, but great sounding travel guitar, it’s definitely worth checking the Eastcoast MKOA, as you’re gonna be hard pushed to find a better looking, more versatile acoustic at this kind of price.
