Part 2 :    • Secunderabad to Vadodara by Rajkot Ex...

Date : 13th April 2021

The train was introduced in the year 1985 arena to run from Ahmedabad to Hyderabad as a weekly super-fast train. The train was later extended to Rajkot and was degraded to Express status as the number of stops were increased.

The 17017 / 17018 Rajkot Secunderabad Express is a popular train in the South Central Railway zone of the Indian Railways. It is only one among the three trains connecting Hyderabad with Rajkot in the state of Gujarat, the other two being the Kakinada - Bhavnagar Express and the Rameswaram - Okha Express. Initially the train ran for only once a week. But, due to the increasing rush of passengers the train was made bi-weekly in June 2001 and tri-weekly in April 2003.

In the Zero Based Timetable (ZBTT), the train has been given a speed up and is now again a Superfast Express running as COVID Special.

This video features the first part of the journey from Secunderabad to Solapur via Vikarabad, Wadi, Kalaburagi (Gulbarga). While Secunderabad was relatively hot, the weather became milder towards Vikarabad. By the time we reached Wadi, there were heavy lightning strikes and a downpour began. The weather cleared around the time we reached Solapur.

All the way from Hussain Sagar Jn to Solapur, we trailed the Hyderabad - Mumbai CST Hussain Sagar Superfast Express. Since that train has more halts, we were not given a good run. The slack that Rajkot Superfast has, made sure the train was still ahead of time at every halt.
