Ford F150 5.0L Coyote V8 Engine Towing **Heavy Mechanic Review** | Better then the EcoBoost??

Описание к видео Ford F150 5.0L Coyote V8 Engine Towing **Heavy Mechanic Review** | Better then the EcoBoost??

I review a 2023 Ford F150 5.0L coyote V8 engine as a heavy duty mechanic and compare it to the 3.5L EcoBoost when it comes to towing. I compare acceleration, torque, fuel economy (mpg), engine braking and generally how each engine tows a heavy loaded trailer. Overall both f150 engines are good at towing.

I hope everyone is having a good week. As per your request I put the 5L V8 coyote engine against the 3.5l ecoboost and compared both of them for their towing ability.

the first thing I noticed with the 5L is that the low end torque is not there in comparison to the ecoboost. this results in the 5L engine having the revv much higher to get the same power to the wheels.

the F150 chassis was once again very solid and handles the large loaded trailer pretty easily for a 1500. one thing that surprised me was that the truck dropped an extra 3/4" with the exact same load. very interesting as to why that was the case because these are the exact same trucks.

in the acceleration test to 70mph the 5L kept up with the ecoboost very well. the ecoboost is a very fast engine and was still a little quicker with the fully loaded trailer behind it.

both these truck have 3.31 gears in them as well as the 10 speed transmission so there should be no difference on that front other then the ecoboost being able to stay in higher gears because of the low end torque.

when towing on the highway the biggest difference to me was that the 5L coyote engine had to constantly downshift in order to maintain speed. meaning the truck was always at higher rpms.

dispite the 5L coyote engine having higher RPMS it was significantly more fuel efficient which was a surprise to me. in comparison to the 3.5L ecoboost the 5L used much less fuel over the towing test and it just goes to show how thirsty that ecoboost engine really is.

overall I liked the 5L towing. I think it has plenty of upper end power to help pull those heavier trailers and I don't think you can go wrong buying either the ecoboost or the 5L for a towing application.

I hope you guys liked the video!
