It's 1986 and the second A12 Chelmsford (Essex) By-pass road is under construction. On this upload we see AEC Mercury, Mammoth Mercury and other lorries, at work on the construction site. These vehicles we very much not road legal and had all been brought second, or third hand, for this sort of work, and ferried between sites as required.
