"Nothing in this world is free!" That's what my son said to me when I told him the mulch was free. Obviously he's been raised by me, a bit too well perhaps! My response was "I gave the tree company a bit of our land in exchange for the mulch."

Like most things you see online, this just sounded too good to be true. I mean, after years of paying hundreds of dollars to have mulch delivered, why on earth would a service exist where one could get mulch for free. Well, it's quite simple actually. Tree trimming companies need places to unload their haul after completing a job, and maybe rather than drive across town to unload at their usual drop site, your property might just be a more convenient location for them.

There are a few caveats though. You don't really get to say how much or little the load. You can't specify the type of wood species you want, but you can decline species you don't want. And you can't select a delivery time or day. After you sign up, your property is listed as an available drop site for any local tree trimmers. You will be notified by email once a company has selected your site, and you will receive an email after the drop off is complete. Need more mulch? Just log in and make another request!
