How to Find a Good Mechanic

Looking for a new mechanic that you can trust with your car? Long time Mechanic, Shop and Radio talk show host Ron Ananian The Car Doctor™ gives us some tips on how to find your next auto repair shop.

Does the shop have certifications? Is the shop properly equipped? Do they have the correct tools to work on your particular vehicle? Don't be afraid to ask questions!

A successful search starts with word of mouth. Talk to your neighbors, friends and family to find out where they take their vehicle. Are they happy with the work? What do they like about the shop?

Have your new mechanic start with simple work first. This will give you an opportunity to see the quality and organization of their work and service.

How full is the shop's yard? Keeping an eye on how often the yard turns over may give you an idea of how successful they are in getting cars fixed and out of the shop.

And of course, online reviews are an essential step in researching a new auto repair shop.

Last but not least, talk to the local auto parts store. They may be able to offer up opinions on who they think are the best repair shops!
