Nyabêla
Nyabêla, also known as Niabel, was a prominent chief of the Ndzundza-Ndebele tribe during the 19th century. Born around 1825 to 1830, he is primarily remembered for his determined efforts to regain control of his tribe's ancestral lands from white settlers. Nyabêla fought tirelessly against the encroachment of European colonizers and their attempts to annex his people's territory. He became a symbol of resilience and resistance, rallying his tribe to defend their homeland. Despite facing numerous challenges, Nyabêla's legacy endures as a testament to the enduring struggle of indigenous peoples to maintain their sovereignty and protect their ancestral lands.
