Young People Showcase Neath Port Talbot - My NPT

Young people in Neath Port Talbot have been given the opportunity to create a video depicting their ideas of what Neath Port Talbot represents to them. The video entitled ‘My NPT’ is the work of a group of young people supported by Horizons, part of the Youth Service provision, Neath Port Talbot Council, NPT Employability. The video project is the latest in a series of Horizon activities that are aimed at helping young people aged 16 -18 that are not in education, employment or training gain new skills, experiences and qualifications to break down barriers and aid them to move closer to the labour market.

The training was delivered in partnership with Rewise Learning. The participants learnt a variety of new skills including story boarding, still and video photography, editing, composing music and using a drone.

All the participants agreed that they really enjoyed taking part, their confidence had been boosted and it was great to socialise with others. They are all immensely proud of the video and their personal achievements.

Rachel Anne Williams, Team Leader Horizons said, “Horizons has helped a number of young people that were isolated and unsure of their future plans. With the support of our Youth Workers they are now socialising, working in groups, achieving qualifications and gaining a variety of new skills and experiences. The video is amazing and a real testament to the talent and hard work this group of young people have put into it”.
