Our adventure began on Instagram when Simon aka Chippy looked up #fruitarian and was magnetized by Tina’s juicy fruit pictures. Half a year later, once in Bali, he suggested a meet-up. Inseparable since that first meeting, together they became insatiable in the hunt for the rarest best-tasting fruits on the planet.

Safou (Dacryodes Edulis) is an African fruit (hotspot for this fruit is Cameroon) that local people will tell you to boil. We know better as it is in the same family as our absolute favorite fruit Dabai from Borneo. We soaked it in lukewarm water for 20-30 minutes and it softened up beautifully. Just like Dabai these ones have to be fresh otherwise parts of the fruit will stay hard just like the ones in this video as we bought then in a fruit market in Belgium. Its super delicious, salty, creamy and herby and tastes almost exactly like Dabai with a splash of lime juice.
