I recommend not swimming or surfing after heavy rainfall due to flooding and potential for dead animals to be swept out to sea. Heavy rainfall also causes murky water, which makes it harder for sharks to see what we are. Land animals are generally not of interest to sharks, however, if they look like very easy prey, that is potentially already dead, a shark may go for it.
