The Nashville Number System reveals the patterns that are used over and over again in popular music. Learn to use the number system and you will develop a better understanding of song structures and spend less time doing what many beginners do—memorizing the chords for each individual song they learn. Instead, your focus will be on understanding the chords’ relationships to each other and feeling chord changes instead of memorizing them. Perhaps most importantly, it enables you to easily change a song’s key to one that suits your vocal range.
