One of the biggest teak tree in the world located at Parambikulam tiger reserve near Coimbatore. It is 135 kilometres (84 mi) from Palakkad town and adjacent to the Annamalai Wildlife Sanctuary to the east in Tamil Nadu. It comes around 70 to 80 km from coimbatore.

Coimbatore to Pollachi and Pollachi to Topslip. But the road was not good, it take additionally one hour for travel. Try to avoid bile on this road.

Kannimara Teak Tree is one of the world’s largest living Trek tree found in Parambikulam Tiger Reserve, with an amazing height of 39.98 m, girth pf 7.15 m (at breast height) and aged 465 years approximately.

The tree has been awarded “Mahaviriksha Puraskar” by the Government of India during 1944-95.

According to the local tribal belief, when this tree was tried to cut down, blood spurted out from the place where it was cut. Since then, this tree was worshipped by the local tribals in Parambikulam as “Virgin Tree”. Thus the name Kannimara is given as he word “Kanni” means “Virgin”.

Parambikulam Tiger Reserve implements the Participatory Forest Management Scheme (PFMS). People from tribal colonies inside the reserve are engaged as guides for treks and safaris, and are provided employment through various eco-tourism initiatives.[10][11] The tiger reserve hosts many capacity building training programmes conducted by Parambikulam Tiger Conservation Foundation in association with various organisations.
