The Calcutta High Court ordered CBI probe in Rampurhat, Birbhum case. The court also directed that report to be submitted by April 7. SIT formed by Mamata Banerjee-government was conducting the probe till date. The High Court said, “No effective contribution of SIT.”

Slamming the probe by SIT into the Rampurhat incident, the Calcutta High Court said, "The case diary of the incident has been produced before us. We have minutely examined it. We find that though the SIT was constituted on March 22, till now there has been no effective contribution by the SIT to the investigation. It has been submitted that in spite of the fact that the police station is very near to the spot of incident, the police did not reach on time and persons trapped inside the houses kept on burning."

In a shocking incident, eight people were charred to death as their homes were set on fire by a mob in Bogtui village in Rampurhat. This mass murder is suspected to be in retaliation of TMC deputy Panchayat chief Bhadu Sheikh’s killing the day before.

Bhadu Sheikh, the deputy chief of the Trinamool Congress or TMC controlled Barshal village panchayat in Rampurhat, Birbhum, was killed in a bomb attack on Monday evening, as per the police. He was attacked by four men who came on bikes with their faces covered. They threw crude bombs at him. Sheikh was rescued and rushed to the hospital where he was declared brought dead.
