Do you have experience calling a Flight Service Station to get a standard weather briefing before you take off? The FARs say (91.103 [a]) you need to be familiar with weather reports and forecasts for your flight.

One way to get all this information, and go on record that you've gotten it, is to get a Standard Weather Briefing from a Flight Service Specialist. You can reach this service by calling 1-800-WX-BRIEF, and asking to for a standard weather briefing.
