Getting rid of those clogs Halloween style. Plugged (clogged) ducts are a result of inflammation in the breast. They happen from shallow latch, tongue tie, the wrong size pump flange, pumping with the suction too strong, pressure on the breast or not moving milk frequently enough. There is a lot of advice out there right now about how to manage plug ducts. Here are the simple strategies:

🖐🏾🤚🏽Gently massage and shake the breasts before feeding or pumping. Lymphatic drainage massage after can help further reduce inflammation.
👶🏻Some recommend dangle feeding or pumping. Try changing nursing positions to help move milk from the infected area.
🎃Keep to your usual feeding or pumping routine. Pumping too much can actually increase supply and make the problem worse
🍁Ice ice ice. Icing helps reduce inflammation. Avoid lactation massagers or anything aggressive on the breast that can make the inflammation worse
🕸️Hydrate and focus on quality nutrition. Probiotics (l-salivarius and l-fermentum), choline and for some sunflower lecithin can help
👻Find the root of the plug (most likely from the list above
