WHO INVENTED THE NAME "SALSA"?

Описание к видео WHO INVENTED THE NAME "SALSA"?

Whose idea was it to name the music "Salsa"? Did the word "Salsa" come from New York? Cuba? Venezuela? If you're curious, then check out this video to find out!

This video is based on chapter 2 of the book "¡Dale Mambo! A Perspective on Salsa Dancing":

Note: Before the name "Salsa" was used as a label for Cuban-based music, the word "Mambo" was reportedly used in a similar way in the U.S. Even before that, the word "rumba" (or "rhumba") was reportedly used.

Note #2. Phidias Danilo Escalona's Venezuelan radio program may have also included the word "salsa" because the sponsor of the program was a ketchup (or "salsa de tomate") brand. If I'm not mistaken, the name of that brand was "Pampero".
