Preparing for CDS steps traders need to take

Описание к видео Preparing for CDS steps traders need to take

The deadline for importers to have moved over to the new Customs Declaration Service (CDS) is fast approaching.

CDS is replacing the Customs Handling of Import and Export Freight (CHIEF) system for declarations, with CHIEF being withdrawn in two stages:

- After 30 September 2022 the ability to make import declarations on CHIEF will end and you must move all your import declarations to CDS
- After 31 March 2023 the ability to make export declarations on CHIEF and the National Export System (NES) will end and you must move all your export declarations to CDS

The Institute of Export & International Trade (IOE&IT) ran a free webinar on Tuesday 23 August covering what traders can do to prepare for the switchover.

Featuring IOE&IT and HMRC experts, the webinar covered:

- The phased withdrawal of CHIEF
- Key steps you need to take to get ready for CDS – whether you’re self-filing or a broker acting on behalf of a trader as somebody who makes declarations
- Key differences between CHIEF and CDS
- Information you will need to submit declarations on CDS
- Additional support available from HMRC

This was a repeat of the webinar run by the IOE&IT on Tuesday 10 May 2022. You can find our full suite of CDS support solutions, including online one-day training, here: https://www.export.org.uk/page/CDS_su...
