Detective Sherdil Movie Review by Sucharita Tyagi - You see, Sherdil is a quirky little annoying genius. He sits fully clothed in bath tubs filled with ice cubes, and signals transitions between scenes using a mouth organ that’s always just like in his pocket. The character is written with little care or nuance, relying too heavily on the charisma of the actor playing him. Diljit, in return, shows as much in interest in bringing Sherdil to life as he has in promoting the film, which is to say, not at all. The most interesting portions are filler B rolls shot with cinematographer Marcin Laskawiec as Sherdil drones on in voice over. Mute the visuals, add Kinni Kinni in the background, and you have yourself a viral Instagram reel.
Accha, so the other thing one could perhaps sink their teeth into would be the power dynamics within his family, ki dheere dheere hum bhi suraag dhoondhein aur Sherdil se pehle mysrtery solve ho. Her boyfriend, also deaf and mute, is named Purvak. Together…they are Shanti Purvak. A pun for the ages, in case you forget, this is a comedy film. Chunky Pandey is also a suspect, a vaguely spiritual shaman-like figure who lives in the garden. I will not explain further.
Detective Sherdil is an upcoming 2025 Indian Hindi-language mystery comedy film[2] directed by Ravi Chhabriya, and produced by Rohini Singh, Manmeet Singh, Ali Abbas Zafar and Himanshu Mehra under Maurya Entertainment Productions, AAZ, and Offiside Entertainment. It is a ZEE5 original. The film stars Diljit Dosanjh, alongside Boman Irani, Ratna Pathak Shah, Chunky Panday, Diana Penty, and Banita Sandhu.The story follows Sherdil as he investigates the mysterious murder of an Indian-origin telecom tycoon in Budapest.[5] The film is scheduled to release on ZEE5 on 20 June 2025.
