The Root Causes of Air Pollution in the San Joaquin Valley

Описание к видео The Root Causes of Air Pollution in the San Joaquin Valley

The Zócalo/California Wellness Foundation event held on January 27, 2022, titled “Can California Solve Its Air Quality Inequality?" featured three speakers: Former California Air Resources Board chair Mary Nichols, Central Valley Air Quality Coalition executive director Catherine Garoupa White and USC sociologist and Solidarity Economics author Manuel Pastor. It was moderated by Saul Gonzalez, KQED Correspondent and Co-Host of The California Report.

Catherine Garoupa White is featured in this clip, discussing what's making air quality worse in the San Joaquin Valley. White says, due to smog and ozone pollution, "We're now having extreme heat and catastrophic wildfires that are pumping all kinds of particles into the air at the same time people are breathing unhealthy levels of ozone."
