Fixing a Major Problem With Our Lotus Elise 2ZZ-GE Camshaft Replacement | No More Wiped Cams!

How to install Lotus Elise 2ZZ-GE intake camshaft & DIY manually unlock VVT-i cam gear. Wiped cams are a common issue on these 111R Lotus and Lotus Exige vehicles causing valid reliability concerns. This engine on the Lotus Elise S2 is also found on the Toyota Celica GTS. In this video I install an upgraded hardened BOE camshaft to improve reliability and to avoid wiping another cam lobe in the future. Overall this repair is simple to do and you can replace your serpentine belt maintenance while you're in there as well.

One thing I forgot to mention in the video is measuring valve clearance adjusting shims, so be sure yours are up to spec. Luckily mine were fine. Good luck and thanks for watching!
