Leslie Dam December 2023

I recently rode my CFM 800MT Explore to Leslie Dam near Warwick Qld (about an hour from my home) to check out the camping options, features and caravan park for future reference. It was a beautiful warm day with light cloud cover and a gentle breeze. There are a multitude of camping sites at various locations along the shoreline with direct access to the water and with clean facilities nearby. There is also a caravan park near one of the camping areas. The dam offers recreation options like camping, skiing, jet skiing, kayaking, swimming (keep an eye out for algal bloom signs). The dam is known for good numbers of Golden Perch, Silver Perch and Murray Cod. The dam is also a good spot for "birders", with many varieties of waterbirds and raptors around the dam. It also gives handy access to Durakai Forest and Morgan Park where western Queensland birds are at their easternmost extremity. Warwick is a close 30-minute drive away offering all large regional city facilities.
