Hey there, it's Evangeline, right here at etrailer. Today, we're gonna have a very quick look at our SeaSucker Monkey Bars that are vacuum cup mounted to the roof of the 2021 Nissan Murano. If you're looking for a quick and easy roof rack solution, especially if you have a Nissan Murano with flush rails, your options are limited. It's kind of tricky to get into those factory mounting points on there. And not every brand has a fit kit that's gonna work to get a custom roof rack, so the SeaSucker Monkey bars are gonna be a great solution for you. This is available in two different sizes.

There's a 48-inch long bars and a 60-inch long ones, which I have right now. With the 60-inch long bars, I prefer it because it makes it a bit easier to load stuff up onto the roof rack. However, it is gonna sit a little further out past your raised rail or your flush rail. It's not gonna go anywhere past your vehicle, but I know some people like this sleeker look a little bit more and that's when the 40-inch bars might be preferable for you. Once you have this rack on there though, the next thing you do have to think about is where you might want to put it.

Since the top crossbar sits a little bit higher than the rear crossbar, what I did is I followed the factory mounting points on that flush rail. I lined it up there and I moved it a little bit towards the edge, towards our front window. That helps balance out your roof rack height and makes a more level surface. Even here, this front bar does sit a little bit higher up so you can compensate and go even closer to the front of your vehicle if needed. I followed the mounting points on the flush rails because I wanted something that would mimic what the roof rack is designed for on the Murano, plus that distance helps keep our hatch clearance.

If you wanna open up your hatch, following that rear spot on the factory mountain points where the rear cross port is to the top of the hatch, that's going to be about 31 inches of distance. So if you like to carry around kayaks, or roof boxes, or roof baskets, the further forward your roof rack is, the more clearance you'll have in the back for your hatch. That's definitely something to be mindful of when you're loading things onto roof, and that's really gonna be the perks of a SeaSucker Monkey Bar roof rack. With the ability to move it out around pretty much anywhere on your roof is very helpful for versatility, for carrying different types of things. Also, since this is vacuum cup mounted, all you need is a flat surface and then you can secure the vacuum.

Here, we have no valleys, or dips, or indents on our roof. We want to move our racking cups as close to the rails as possible. That's gonna give us our strongest base and help prevent flexing of the roof. Now as you drive around, you are going to notice that there are orange indicators on those vacuums, and that's to show whether you have full touch points on your roof or not. In our case here, it looks like we released a little bit of air, and that's okay, it's a very quick and easy fix. You press down on that pad and then you depress those pumps and just like that, you know that your roof rack is secure on your roof. That's also how you'll install it. You line up your roof bars on your roof, push down on those pumps with one hand and then depress it. If you find that it's a little tricky to do so, go ahead, add it with some water, and then that will help seal the edges as you secure those vacuum cups. With that being said, super easy install process, super easy to set up. These are gonna be round metal bars. I do recommend taking them off when you're done using them to carry other accessories because you can't really lock them on your roof. It's easier just to pull on that vacuum pad, that releases the pressure on the inside, and then you can just take it off, twist it apart into pieces, and store it inside your Murano. Check out my full demo here on etrailer if you're curious about the extra features. But the focus here today is how will it fit on your Nissan Murano. You just saw the SeaSucker Monkey Bars, specifically the 60-inch long version, here on the 2021 Nissan Murano.
