Should you do an MBA abroad? Are you from North America (US/Canada) American and are considering an MBA overseas, whether it’s Europe, Asia, or anywhere outside the US, or are you from Europe and you’re considering an MBA in North America or in Asia, or if you’re Asian and you’re considering an MBA in North America or in Europe or anywhere else but Asia, you should watch this video

00:00 - Intro

01:14 - Recruiting:
With a US MBA, you will not have as many opportunities in Europe or in Asia than you would have if you decided to work in the US.

Pros:
03:14 - Networking
An MBA from another country, will expand your personal and professional network. You will make friends from all over the world.
03:44 - Learning a new language
Even though English is a major language in the business world, Mandarin, Spanish, French and German are pretty close behind.
04:08 - Cultural practices in business
things like greetings and workplace norms will help ensure you avoid possible offensive behavior or speech.
04:42 - Opportunities to work abroad after graduation
If your goal is to live and work abroad, doing a degree in that region of interest, is the right move.

Cons:
05:40 - Networking in your home country
If you’re American, and you plan to return to the US after your studies in Europe or in Asia, your degree from abroad could potentially hurt your networking opportunities in your local area because a school outside of the US, might not be known as much as a strong local school.
06:08 - Language barriers
If you don’t have at least conversational language skills, this will limit your opportunities to work in the country.
Other major differences you should consider:
06:37 - Diversity
European MBA programs have more international students than US MBA programs. At US programs you will see around 30% international students, European programs mainly consist of international students.
07:21 - Selectivity
European schools are competing for student talent with the more popular and attractive US schools.
07:49 - Recruitment
Completing an MBA outside your home country means you will not have the same direct access to recruiters as students in your home country. Therefore, analyze and understand the recruitment process in European programs. Not all firms do on-campus recruiting, which is the primary way for students to get hired.
09:58 - Other factors to consider
Duration (1 year vs. 2 years), tuition, starting salaries, curriculum, branding of the school, and cost of living during your MBA.
