Butter chicken is also known as Murg Makhni. If we dig more about this recipe, before the partition of India & Pakistan there was a sweet shop by the name of 'Mukhey Da Dhaba'in Peshawar. owned by Mr. Mokha Singh. At the same shop, there was this young dedicated worker ' Kundan Lal Gujral' who invented and gave birth to this new recipe called tandoori chicken which is a worldwide famous dish in the present time.
The story isn't finished here after Indo Pak partition Kundan Lal Gujral came to Delhi and started his own food outlet named 'Moti Mahal' which is a renowned food chain in India nowadays at Dariyagung Delhi.
Back in the day this creative mind Mr. Gujral came up with an idea of utilizing leftover tandoori chicken which was left unsold hung on skewers. This genius mixed the leftover tandoori chicken in a basic tomato gravy with butter, cream, and spices and that's how this worldwide famous recipe' Butter chicken', was invented.
As time passed by many modifications came to the same recipe. chicken tikka replaced tandoori chicken. A lot of people use chicken thigh for the recipe, the twist in my recipe is I'm going to debone the whole chicken, making tikkas out of it in preparation of this legendary dish 'Butter Chicken',
