The foot drag stop on ice is a stylish and controlled way to slow down or stop by dragging one foot while keeping your momentum balanced. It’s often seen in hockey and casual skating. Here’s how to do it:

1. Gain Some Speed
• Skate forward at a comfortable pace.
• Keep your knees bent and your weight centered for stability.

2. Shift Your Weight
• Transfer most of your weight onto your leading leg (the leg that will keep gliding).
• The other leg will be used to drag and slow you down.

3. Position the Dragging Foot
• Extend your free leg slightly behind or to the side.
• Use either the inside or outside edge of your blade to make light contact with the ice.
• Apply gentle pressure at first to avoid tripping or stopping too suddenly.
