Advocacy at Islamic Relief - Islamic Relief USA

Описание к видео Advocacy at Islamic Relief - Islamic Relief USA

Today, one billion people around the world are food insecure.
Today, 70 million refugees have been displaced worldwide. The most since World War II.
Today, climate change significantly impacts an incalculable number of already vulnerable communities across the globe.

As the country’s largest Muslim humanitarian and development organization, Islamic Relief USA has developed a non-partisan and advocacy platform to provide a voice for those in need, both in the United States and around the world.

Without advocacy, policy decisions that affect everyone around us, including you, will be made without our input. This means, we must engage decision-makers to ensure the communities we serve are not overlooked.

IRUSA’s advocacy priorities are guided by our organizational values of excellence, sincerity, compassion, custodianship, and social justice. Additionally, they align with several of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Since IRUSA’s establishment in 1993, we have provided assistance to over 1,000,000 beneficiaries with the aim of eradicating poverty, hunger reduction, gender equality, climate protection, and support for refugees.

To effectively advocate, IRUSA builds and participates in a wide-range of coalitions with officials and organizations. We work to ensure lawmakers and government officials are educated about issues affecting the populations we serve. And moreover, we strive to educate and empower the general public to make informed decisions about policies that effect those in need.

We provide the necessary resources to people and organizations required to develop the capacity to build locally, so that large scale change can be implemented by advocating on behalf of themselves and their constituents.

IRUSA frequently works in coordination with other faith-based organizations, government agencies, and NGOs to ensure our advocacy efforts are more impactful.

In order to facilitate our advocacy work, we proudly carry-out hundreds of advocacy meetings, draft and sign-on to coalition letters to lawmakers and senior government officials, employ a full-time staff to engage the Congress, executive departments, think tanks, academia and many more.

Advocacy starts with people like you. It comes down to people like you, caring about issues that affect all of us. Your voice and actions matter. Will you join IRUSA and advocate for the voices that go unheard?
