Dresden is the capital city of the State of Saxony located in the former East Germany on the banks of the River Elbe. It is an attractive city with a rich history dating back as far as the late 12th century, to a Sorbian settlement called Drežďany (meaning either "woods" or "lowland forest-dweller"). It is one of the most visited cities in Germany with 4.7 million people a year staying in its hotels and guest houses.
In this video we take a tour in T4DMT ČKD Tatra tram around part of the city’s tram network giving passengers the opportunity to see many of the historical buildings and sights that make this such a popular destination for tourists.

The origin of the tram network can be traced back to 1872, when the first horse-drawn line opened between the city centre and the village of Blasewitz, now a borough of Dresden. Today’s network is approximately 134.0 km (83.3 miles) serving 154 tram stops. The tracks are built to a
unique gauge of 1,450 mm (4 ft 9 3⁄32 ins) sometimes called the ‘Dresden Gauge’.
