Kyere was a member of the 50 man captives on July 22nd, 2005 in the town of Barra in The Gambia. Kyere was a Ghanian, along with other people from Ghana, Senegal, Togo and Nigeria were on a perilous journey to Europe. They started off in Senegal and found themselves on the shores of Barra, in the Gambia. The Police from the Barra Police Station rounded the group up and passed the information across the river to Banjul, the capital city. Not long after, the Navy boat was in Barra to pick the group and ferry them across the river to Banjul. There, they were handed to various security forces and eventually ended up in the hands of the most feared Junglers. Junglers were specialized in killings and disappearances. They got the group, and the rest is history. Kyere was lucky, as he escaped from the Junglers in the forest and made a daring run for his life. Today he is in the Gambia at the invitation of the truth commission to narrate what really happened. He was testifying live on March 1st, 2021.
