Rendering: 2025 Maserati Quattroporte Looks Like the Tesla Model S' Worst Nightmare
The original came out in 1963 with rear-wheel drive and a pair of V8 engines. The second generation was made from 1976 to 1978. Its successor was launched the following year and survived until 1990, and three years later, the Quattroporte IV debuted.
Related to the era's GranTurismo and GranCabrio, as well as the stunning Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione, the fifth-gen stayed in production between 2003 and 2012. As for the latest iteration, it is ten years old and still looks sexy as hell. The sixth-generation Maserati Quattroporte is on its dying bed, and after no longer being available with a V8 engine, it should drive off into the sunset soon.
The latest reports speak of the all-new model arriving in 2024 with battery-electric power solely. To highlight its new all-quiet nature, the Trident brand will allegedly add the Folgore suffix to its name. The sedan is expected to build on a stretched version of the GranTurismo's architecture, which boasts supercar power levels in the zero-emission flavor.
Some of its natural rivals will include the Mercedes EQS and BMW i7, and it should cost in excess of $150k. Despite the eye-watering price tag, it will undoubtedly attract some serious shoppers, considering that Maserati is a more premium brand compared to Tesla and Lucid. Speaking of that, it will also take a swing at the Model S and Air Sapphire.
Now, while the model's electric future is predictable, no one outside Maserati knows anything about the design. But that hasn't stopped several rendering artists from trying to imagine what it may look like. The latest digital illustrations we came across bear futurism_collective's signature and made their way to social media a few days ago.
Sexiness overload is one way to describe these CGIs, which portray it with a supercar-like appearance. The model has a long nose, the typical Maserati grille, some air curtains below the ultra-thin LED headlights, special trim on the front fenders, a vented hood, broad shoulders, and a coupe-like appearance.
It also gets digital mirrors, large alloys, a back end that reminds of the Lexus LC to some extent, and tailpipes to signal the presence of a hypothetical internal combustion engine. It may look like a two-door, but if you look closely, you will see that it has a four-door body style, likely with frameless side windows.
We hope Maserati's design team sees these renderings and decides to use them as inspiration to sketch out the next-gen Quattroporte, as it is one of the best-looking cars we've seen in a long time. It would be a pity to keep it in the digital realm.
