A multiplexer is a combinational circuit that has 2^n input lines and a single output line. A Multiplexer is has multiple input signals onto a single transmission line or channel. 2^n inputs lines, n control signals. At a time one input line is selected by control signal. One output is generated. In other words simply it can be defined as that multiplexer is a device that multiple inputs and single line output the selection line determine which input is selected as output the number of selection line is depend on type of multiplexer.
