Welcome back to my channel. This video is about how to write your first nursing resume and cover letter, how to get your first nursing interview and how to get your first nursing job even with no experience!

GENERAL
-Format should be one page for cover letter & one page for resume
-Choose readable fonts! (i.e. TNR, Arial)

COVER LETTER
-Header: Name, Contact info (i.e. email/phone) &/or Linkedin link!
-Break it down into 3-4 paragraphs
-Begin with date, address of job you are applying to, and ‘to whom it may concern’
-Intro paragraph:
-position you are applying to and the role
-research/why you want this position
-what can you bring to the job!

-2nd paragraph:
-highlights your skills and experiences that relate to the job
-include personal skills (i.e. not so much hands-on, such as communication, organization, prioritization etc)
-ensures why you are a good fit for the team

-3rd paragraph:
-final summary, thank you & signature

RESUME
-Break it down into objective, education, certifications, clinical & professional experiences as well as any volunteer/internships
-Always arrange in order of most recent experience on top
-Always ensure you have one-line long bulleted points for each experience, which begin with a verb
-Ensure your resume is 1 page long, concise, but still highlights your skills that relate to the job description!

TIPS!
-Always make sure your resume and cover letter are in a pdf file
-Bring multiple copies of cover letters and resumes to your interviews
-Make sure your references are ready to go! (Give them a heads-up!)
