Hey everybody! You know what? For most of you, the oxygen sensor (also known as the Lambda or O2 sensor) may be a bit of an 'invisible' character that you may not even notice is there! But don't underestimate it, it's the superhero of our vehicle's emission control system!

So how does an oxygen sensor work? Actually, it doesn't measure the concentration of oxygen in the exhaust gas directly, but rather calculates the difference between the amount of oxygen in the exhaust gas and the amount of oxygen in the air. This difference is converted into a voltage signal that is continuously fed back to the engine control unit (ECU or ECM) to help us optimize the car's performance.

If the engine has too much or too little fuel, the ECU receives a signal and automatically adjusts the optimal ratio of fuel to air. This sensor is like the 'tuner' of the engine, always helping to keep the vehicle in top condition, making our cars both efficient and environmentally friendly!
