CINCINNATI (Sheila Gray) -- Some children's homework is so hard their parents can't help them with it.

It's a dilemma for a lot of parents and only gets worse as the children advance in school. Kenatu and Nabeu love the encouragement they get from their mom, Genet.

But the kids and their mom agree it can be frustrating when Genet tries to help. Genet takes her children to the Homework Center at her library. That's where Trish Eversole and Nicole Kelsch are homework support assistant. They say this family's challenges are not uncommon.

"When it comes to doing something online or more complicated stuff, it's hard because sometimes she might not understand what I'm trying to do," Nabeu said.

Experts say parents and children can use technology to their homework advantage with sites like Homework Help Now.

Nicole explained, "You type in your question, a white board comes up, and it works it out for you."

Parents may not have all the answers, but just like tutors, they can teach their students where to find them. Even more important is forming good habits. Experts say have kids do their homework at the same time each day, eliminate distractions, and let them choose what assignments to complete first.

Just like it's important for kids to have good homework habits, it's important for parents to have good homework habits too. Don't get stressed out about the kids' homework time and don't compare your child to a brother or sister. Experts say just focusing on the child can be a confidence booster for them and for you.
