Scrapping the ship ALGOMA TRANSPORT, Funnels removed, 2024

The scrapping of ALGOMA TRANSPORT is underway, as seen on June 10, 2024. At this time, she is still docked along the east wall of the canal in Port Colborne, near the scrap slip. She will likely shortly be towed into the actual scrap slip. Work has been on-going inside the ship, and in the last month or so, noticeable work has taken place outside: her boom has been cut into pieces, her pilothouse has mostly been removed, and as seen today, the port-smokestack has already been removed, and workers were removing the starboard funnel. The boom was cut apart at some point between May 14 and May 24; the pilothouse portion was still intact on May 30, but by June 10 was gone.
The barge A-410 is still sitting at the canal's east side, waiting to be scrapped. In the distance behind A-410 is the scrap slip where, until very recently, the ship TECUMSEH was being scrapped, and which is now fully demolished.
Also, the ferry NORISLE quickly disappeared around early spring 2024, at the same time they were working on Tecumseh..
Also seen stopped at the east wall were the barge ALOUETTE SPIRIT and her tug WILF SEYMOUR.
Update: ALGOMA TRANSPORT was towed, from her berth at the east wall, over to the scrap slip, on July 7, 2024. I believe the tugs Seahound, Vigilant and Charlie E carried out the tow.
Note: during the time TRANSPORT was docked along the canal's east wall, her bow was facing south (towards Lake Erie). After being towed, the TRANSPORT was pushed into the scrap slip with her bow facing north.
