On July 18, 2024, the third plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee passed a decision to consolidate and enhance Hong Kong’s status as an international financial, shipping, and trade center, supporting Hong Kong and Macao in building themselves into international hubs for high-caliber talent. Heiwai Tang, Associate Dean (External Relations) of the Business School at the University of Hong Kong, highlighted that the Decision provides clear direction for Hong Kong's development. He emphasized the importance of leveraging Hong Kong's research strengths and increasing interaction with Mainland cities in the Greater Bay Area to drive economic diversification and high-quality development.
