Genius Hour is not graded according to the Schneider article. How is that possible in today’s grade driven environment?
For older students, Genius Hour can allow students to explore areas of interest that can inform college choices and beyond.
In the Will article, reflection is mentioned as an important part of the process. Students need to be taught how to think about what they did and process that to better inform decisions later. It is not a skill that everybody is just born with and can use.
The freedom of choice can be daunting to students who have never been asked about what they want to learn. How do you encourage these students to take on the challenge?
