Vintage Leslie 147 Tube amplifier power supply voltage level adjustment 6550 bias

This Leslie came to the shop with distorted output. Testing the tubes revealed a shorted 6550 output tube. I replaced them with NOS RCA's. After applying power, I noticed that the tubes were smelling quite hot. Suspecting bias issues, I decided it would be best to do a little web research and ran across Benton electronics.com. They specialize on repair of the Leslie line. I found some great information to dial the amp in. Please review their site for details as I do not proclaim to be a Leslie expert. This is actually the first one I have worked on. My solution was to change the 0C3 with a 0D3 voltage regulator. This brought the screen voltage down which in turn reduced the cathode voltage. The tubes seem to be running cooler. This may not be the ultimate solution, but it did help. The primary cause of increased High voltage is increased AC line voltage. I suppose another option would be run a variac, but not everyone has those laying around.
